08h35 Start-up modulator (it was already on standby), laser, magnets, cycling.

As yesterday there is a problem with the MPS to start the machine. We are trying to investigate whether it is related to the vacuum or something else.

Problem with the solenoid COL.01 (Internal Interlock Hard).

Help is needed.

At this moment, apparently we are blocked by the closed vacuum valve of the FPC. To be checked with Nourredine (emails sent).

The vaccum level in the FPC is not yet good to open the valve. Eric will check it.

10h10 Switched to the Linac+TL+EL configuration. HV is on (the modulator was in the local mode). Interlocks even at HV 1200 V, the sect att. 3 dB. Linac 04 vac is high.  

10h33 There are breakdowns at 26 dB the section att. and 25 dB of the RF gun att. These are not in vacuum breakdowns. Probably it is the klystron problem.

10h50 The modulator is in the standby mode.

Maher is coming to check the klystron and Jean-Noel is working on the solenoid power supplies.

11h40 Maher fixed problem with the klystron by increasing the filament power. At 84 kV, I = 48.7 A (microperveance 2.0). At 293 kV, I = 294 A (microperveance 1.85, should be 2.0).

The problem with MPS is the OC/AVAL02 FP valve. It is in two states at the same time: Closed and Open.

11h HV ON. We do not see the RF signals, even  the baselines (RedPitaya). The Wevecatchers are also not triggered. probably problem with timing or their configs. Help is needed !!!

Apparently, there was the electricity cut. Help is also needed with the RF cavity.

12h10 something happened. Modulater went to OFF, dipoles are in error state. The valves became orange on the PSS screen.  

Problem with Air Comprime => Solved !

JN et Maher heped to start again the Air Comprimee.

Mochamed fixed RF amplifier, but it gives only 10.7 kV.

Power supply of WAC3 is dead.

L'alignement de la PhotoCatode est fini. Il est a noter :

- La position de la camera a ete ajuste pour mieux coller a la distance entre PhotoCathode et miroir de prelevement (pour la cathode virtuelle). Cette distance est d'environ 215.5 cm.

- le tube a vide d'entre du laser dans le linac a ete retire pour s assurer de l alignement du laser sur le miroir sous vide. Le faisceau est centre en transverse et legerement au dessus de l horizontal en vertical (<3/4 du miroir environ)

- L'image de reference de l'alignement Photocathode est en piece jointe. Le faisceau est centre sur la camera.

- les alignement ont ete revu au niveau de la table de la casemate pour reduire le vignetage

- L'energie UV en sortie du laser etait de 140uJ environ.

 

Point a faire et a surveiller :

- Il faut remettre le tube d'injection et passer sous vide

- Il faut mesurer la puissance laser sur la table optique dans la casemate

- le shutter de securite semble disfonction en mode local. Il y a une repercution sur le PSS (defaut a aquitter)

- L'attenuateur ne semble pas tourner.

Le tube de liaison a ete remis, le faisceau etait legerement decale. Il a ete realigner sur la PhotoCathode (1mm a gauche de la sortie de la PhotoCathode trouee).

La nouvelle image et en P.J.

La référence sur la position moteurs des miroirs est :

li/op/las.01-mir.05 :

* mot.01 : - 0.180 mm

* mot.02 : - 1.035 mm

li/op/opt.01-mir.04 :

* mot.01 : 0 mm

* mot.02 : 27.01 mm

Je déconseille de se fier à cela. Il y a beaucoup d’hystérésis. Ce qui fait fois est la position sur la caméra.

Pour couper le Laser :

  • il faut arrêter seulement l'Ampli, et laisser l'oscillateur (pas besoin de l'arrêter).
  • Redémarrer l'oscillateur peut le mettre dans un mode instable.

La transmission de la ligne de transport est en baisse. Les Hublots sont en cause. Il faut augmenter la taille sur le hublot ou changer le coating de ce dernier.

On retrouve la phase pour la charge max phi = 313 degres (consigne chiller canon = 31.25 degres)

On enlève 40 degres à la phase de charge max pour arriver à la phase d'énergie maximum phi = 273 degres

On focalise le faisceau avec la bobine de sortie canon I = 170 A

On peut l'observer sur la camera LI/DG/SST.01

On passe ensuite la section phi section = 100 degres (consigne chiller section 28.95 degres)

On met du courant dans le steerer avant section LI/PS/STR.02-V.01 I = 0.83A et LI/PS/STR.02-H.01 I = -0.90A

On observe sur TL/DG/SST.01

On peut observer les trends des ICTs avec taurus plot er/ca/rac.05-elr.01_wac.02/ch0 pour ICT1

Shift started at 18h

With the current injector settings, it was difficult to inject.  We loaded the settings from last Friday 30/09 (19-22-04).

 

Principal steps:

- Correction of the one quadrupole polarity this morning

-injection tuning, observation of Turn-by-Turn-X, Turn-by-Turn-Y and Sum

-quads focusing, defocusing +-.0.5%

-iterative manual adjustments of corrctors, DPI, Septum, Kicker

-orbit correction with open line model response matrix 

- several datasets taken for further postprocessing

 

Beam is stored !!!!! ~400 turns (limited by the Libera response)

 

Stored beam, visible  more than 300 turns,  signal decay as estimated  due to Libera cutoff filters. To store more, RF cavity should be used.

Stable closed orbit!

Important milestone is achieved.

No losses at scintillator/fiber except for the injection, see oscilloscope screenshot.

Current machine settings are stored in recipe_recipe_LI_TL_RI_20221003_20_24_01.txt

Orbit is stable for more than one hour. End of the shift.

Programme de la prise de données du 8/06:

0) During warm up:

0a)check physically BPMs where there seem to be a polarity issue (needs 2 persons, a battery and a multimeter).

0b) CHeck vacuum chamber around RI-C2/AE/DP.04

1) Transport to TL/FC.01 (TL/DP.01 off). Record FC  signal

2) Transport to TL/SST.02 and TL/BPM.02. Record BPM adc signal while closing dispersion (for Mouad's studies).

3) Transport to EL/FC.01. Record FC  signal and compare with TL/FC.01. If needed swap filters and compare again.

4) Activate position feedback on TL/BPM.02

5) Inject in ring, no RF power. Record with high res oscilloscope travel time for different magnets settings. If needed use a mixer.

6) Study the effect of correctors around RI-C2/AE/DP.04

7) Use extraction kicker scan to measure beam travel time after several turns

8) Finish BPM polarities study

9) Repeat (5) and (7) with different RF powers at 2 different frequencies (500.0202MHz and 500.4MHz). Look at oscillations on TbtX and TbtY vs frequency.

==> mise en place de la version du 27/09 dans le CPLD pour la synchro. Trig régulier mais jitter entre les deux 500MHz de 35 ps (RMS) et 160 ps (P-P).

Programme : 

* Redemarrage de la machine

      -> charge eviron de 200 pC à 310mm de attenuateur et 1.3mm ouverture iris

             * Energie max : 155° (phase canon), 100pC à 530mm atténuateur laser, position [H;V] = [5.24 mm, 2.91mm]   

* verification du trig Klystron

  -> pas de probleme de klystron visible. Le faisceau est pas mal "bruyant", il saute sur les écrans

* élaboration d'une recette pour injection dans l'anneau

   -> faisceau transporte jusqu'a l'écran TL/SST.03 ==> le faisceau est très décalé sur la droite (meme avec la recette precedente le faisceau est décalé "all_20230825_16_57_06")

* essaie de mettre l'anneau à 500.25MHz ==> Auncune recette ne marche pour l'injection (meme en variant la valeur kicker, septum, phase, puissance). 

==> nécessité de mettre en place des recettes viable et des procédures pour stocker dans l'anneau.
