The "Extraction" kicker did not allow to store the beam. Maher exchanged the kicker PS back.

Restart. Ring tuning is OK.

Gradual increase of the charge from the RF gun. Tuning and measurements of the charge in the ring (integral of the TbT sum signal @2k turns). Please, see the plot attached.

We made 4 points. For each one, the solenoid, TL quaqrupoles and steering and injection were changed by looking at the BLM signal (ring injection). Ring kept unchanged.

A special attention should be given to the transport efficiency (and emittance), when increasing the charge.

  * le cylcage plante toujours autan (redémarrage de l'IHM après allumage des aimants et à la moitier du cyclage des aimants)

 

 

** Mise en place de la mesure de phase laser **

- le programme se lance automatiquement sur la redpitaya en salle laser

- Le DS est sous Astor il tourne sous SRV-7

- l'IHM permet de faire une calibration (conversion de la lecture en degrée de phase 500MHz et setting des points du feedback)

- il permet de lancer l'acquistion de la phase laser (avec setting de la correction au début) 

- il permet de lancer le feedback

*** (cf. signaux de phase) le problème vient de la précision de la mesure. Lors des tests le signal était beaucoup plus beau qu'a présent. Nous devons travailler sur le signal pour avoir une rétroaction efficace (qui ne perturbe pas le faisceau).

10h30 The ring RF cavity did not start due to interlock on  Pi, Pr, RF. Fixed

11h - 14h Optimization of the ring by using also MRSV. We have arrived @MRSV to the sigma_x = 16.4 pixels and sigma_y = 13.5 pixels.1 pixel = 41 um.

14h Operation with X-rays

We started withthe flux of 50 pA and optimize it till 350 pA (sometimes up to 400 pA). The vertical orbit is attached. The X-ray flux depends strongly on the tuning of the Linac and TL + injection. During the optimization we do not modify the Ring elements. By changing the vertical corrector in the TL, the flux was increased by 100 pA. To be understood.

The injected charge in the ring shows slow oscillations, same as the ICT signals in TL (see screenshots). From time to time the injection/charge starts to jump, sources (similar situation is with FPC laser)

With these data we get ANGLE =  5.1 mrad

With the vert orbit Ring BPM we calculated the following:  BPM3 =-2.62 mm pos. 3.93 m and BPM4 = 2.99 mm pos 5.074 m => ANGLE = 4.9 mrad

Very good agreement given the precision of the measurements.

Stability of the injector is very important during these measurements.

We made the quasi flat vertical orbit around IP ANGLE 0.09 mrad. As for now, for this vert. orbit, the flux is 3 times lower ~110-120 pA, despite different scans and attempts to inclrease it. Apparently, vert. orbit in SEXT is very important and in current configuration should be offset.

19h STOP THOMX

Astra simulation of the phase charge scan (see figure) shows that this is a convolution of the electron bunch generated by the laser pulse, since electrons cannot be generated at the negative field at the cathode. Therefore, the zero crossing is a cutting edge. The maximum acceleration corresponds to 48.5 degrees. 

From the phase charge scan (see figures): Sigma1=1/0.462/1.4=1.5 dg. (morning), Sigma2=1/0.337/1.4=2.1 dg. (evening). But it seems that last one has satellite bunch.

Beam tuning of the injector and Ring

Measurement of the synchrotron frequency (model freq 234.21 kHz at 150 kV)

with 200 injections:

Amplitude deviation = 33.9911%
Frequency deviation = 0.48116% (269.5504 kHz)
Phase deviation = 140.4079 degrees
Average position deviation = 0.96329%

This frequency is given to Mohamed to configure the FBL.

In 1h we remeasure the frequency

Amplitude deviation = 36.5824%
Frequency deviation = 1.1559% (266.9823 kHz)
Phase deviation = 148.368 degrees
Average position deviation = 1.0323%

Après réglage de la phase Canon + Linac (atténuateur + phase) ==> stockage immédiat sans perte sur les fibres

** Gros courant I3 de rayons X, /!\ la calibration (courant/flux) n'est plus bonne (cf. prochain point)

** Le faisceau est fortement en haut du tube faisceau dans la ligne X ==> problème de trajectoire ==> influence sur I3

18h30 : fin de shift

Test monochromateur :

- En fermant les fentes autour du monochromateur, on voit apparaitre la réflexion

- prise de spectre à différent angle mono sur la réflexion 

- problème au niveau de la recherche du centre faisceau (compensation entre déplacement et angle mono) ==> à investiguer. 

 

---- à faire :

- analyse des spectres et mise au point d'une procédure pour trouver le centre du monochromateur

- recalibration de la diode I3

- trouver le paramètre corrélé à la baisse de flux (nous avions activé le feedback laser + phase Laser + injection section) 

Sur toute la journée la phase Laser à bougé de quelques degrés de phase (3 degrés environs), mais la phase section a du etre rattrapé de plus (pratiquement 10deg)

With the previously saved receipt, the injection and charge of the stored beam was quite bad. We tried several receipts. We tried to tune the ring till ~16h.

The FPC was operated in synchronous mode with the power twice less as typical value.

The TL transport was different from previously used. We should try to keep the same orbit in the TL for reproducibility. 

The FPC scan showed the two peaks structure => to be understood.

Then, we re-loaded the lattice from folder Reference (changed the laser position @photocathode). With the energy-phase adjustments we arrived to the resonable conditions. The FPC scan is attached.

Both I3 and I4 were recorded/displayed during the shift. In this configuraiton, the X-ray signal was mainly maximized and I3 ~7k-8k pA (I4~ a few hundreds of pA).

The vertical orbit was modifief to have zero angle at the IP. See the plot attached. 

In this configuraiton, the X-ray signal was almost equally shared between I3 and I4 ~ 1k pA.

A proper conditions and FoM should be defined for further optimization procedures.

Attention changement de fréquence 500MHz ring => changement de phase 33MHz obligatoire pour pas avoir de saute de synchro(spider Write_Phase RIGOL_33MHz.py)
