Starting point nominal lattice D1Thomx_017_064_r56_02_chro00 with the MCF=0.014  chro=0/0

Goal: test the new lattice with MCF=0.0231  chro=0/0 which alows to decrease the RF frequesncy down to 500.25 MHz. This will make possible operation witht eh FPC.

Total charge measured by the ICT was 60-70 pC. It was not possible to increase it with the attenuator. 

Start working with the new laser spot position on the photocathod (after previous shift by linac group). This also includes the different solenoid alignment and laser positorn feedback setting. We came back to our usual settings.

Work started witht he nominal optics at 500.32 - 500.33 MHz. Correction the orbit and minimization of the synchrotron oscillations. Check the tunes. Observations: it is not possible to reduce considerably the synch. oscilations due to some jitter from injecton to injecton. We do not know whether it is the energy or phase jitter, to be investigated. From orbit measurements w/o RF, we see that that std of the hor. orbit (injection by injection) at BPM3 (high D region) is about 0.26 mm. With the D ~ 1m => dp/p = 0.026 %. It is kind of compatible with the injector energy jitter seen at TL BPM2 : 1 mm correspods to ~0.1% dp/p. It would be good to have some information about the phase stability beetween the ring trigger and the laser. As the result of such jitter, it is difficult to find the proper E and phase and so, correct closed orbit.

RF freq = 500.25 MHz. Dispersive orbit is obtained. Optimization of the injection and storage. No betatron oscillation, should be investigated. A good storage is obtained, which could be further optimezed. 

Work on the BBA. The algorythm does not work correctly with the current TbT orbit. The jitters are quite large in order to detect the orbit change due to quadrupoles/correctors change. Under investigations. 

Measurement of the emittance. The proper/full quadrupole calibration was worked out B(I) from -12 to 12 A. The emittance was measured at 210 A and 220 A. At 220 A from the data taken, the vertical emiitance can not be estimated (gives the imaginary numbers). See the ppt attached.

Suggestion: commission the MRSV to be able to visualize the beam in the ring and set-up fully the EL to be able to measure the chrage and beam images.

End of August: take another data for emittance and study BBA.
