Subject: Asymmetric longitudinal distribution due to mirror charge, entered from 134.158.76.165

We observe a peak in the longitudinal distribution 2.0 cm from the photo-cathode (i.e. inside the RF gun) when we include the mirror charge and the peak disappears if we don't consider the mirror charge in the simulations. Attachments: Snapshot of the ASTRA input file (Capture.png). Particle longitudinal distribution at the cathode (lp_0cm.png). Particle long. dist. at z = 2.0 cm from the cathode (lp_mc_sp_2cm.png) considering mirror and space charges, and we see a significant peak on the left. Particle long. dist. at z = 2.0 cm from the cathode (lp_nmc_sp_2cm.png) only with space charge (NOT the mirror charge), and the peak disappears. Normalized electric field for the RF gun considered for these simulations (gun_field.png).
