We are trying to measure the dispersion in the ring. It is necessary to change the RF, but this creates problems.
1) By changing FR frequency, problem with triggering
2) Changing the RF frequency changes RF cavity phase !!! Imprtant for beam physics studies.
3) Sometimes als laser phase
This point should be studies.
For today Nicolas checked the DS Ring_freq which we use. We started the discussion how to approach the issue.
We use unipolar frequency sweep method with deltaRF = 10 kHz. Sometimes it fails. Even by doing this, the real deltaRF is not 10 kHz but apparently up to 100 Hz different.
We also observed that by changing the frequency by multiple of 5 keeps the phase almost unchanged but still with mistriggering.
We made the studies of vertical dispersion and orbit.
The current conclusions: we should change the tilt of 2 dipoles in the ring to correct for vertical dispersion, by about 0.5 mrad.
We contacted Rodolphe Marie to organize this intervention.
With corrected vertical dispersion we made LOCO. Succesfull 1st iteration. Should be continued.
During the day several problems with RF cavity. 4 times it went to interlock Reflected Power. Took some time to rester it.
